Partnering with Rise Against Hunger

This Lent, our congregation and academy will once again partner with Rise Against Hunger, a global organization dedicated to ending hunger around the world.

Nearly 689 million people live in extreme poverty, surviving on less than $1.90 per day. Children make up the majority of the world’s poor, and in many regions hunger affects daily survival, education, and long-term opportunity. Rise Against Hunger works to provide nutritious, shelf-stable meals to children and families in the areas of greatest need. Each meal costs only pennies to produce – but the impact is life-changing.

Our Lenten Commitment

Beginning Ash Wednesday, February 18, we started raising funds as part of our Lenten observance. Lent begins with Ash and continues through Easter.

Members of the congregation and our MMA families are encouraged to:

  • Give up something meaningful for Lent.
  • Set aside the monetary value of that sacrifice.
  • Bring those gifts to on April 5, Easter Sunday

Last year, our church and MMA raised over $5,000, providing more than 10,000 meals. Our goal this year is to provide at least 10,000 meals – and we believe our church and MMA family can make a significant difference.

Meal Packing Event

All funds raised will culminate in a hands-on packaging event in the Rodgers Center Gym.

Members and our MMA families are invited to participate as we gather to measure, seal, and box meals that will be shipped to communities in need around the world.

This is more than a fundraiser.  It is an opportunity for our community to see how faith becomes action and how even small sacrifices can help fee children across the globe.

Thank you for helping our church live out compassion in a very tangible way.
